This Is a Story About Late Nights and New Possibilities

“Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction can be the biggest step of your life. Tiptoe if you must, but take the step.”
— Naeem Callaway

You know those quiet hours after the kids are finally asleep? When the house falls silent and you’re left with nothing but the weight of tomorrow’s to-do list? That’s where my transformation began.

I had spent nearly twenty years building a successful healthcare career—implementing pharmacy services, shaping policy, serving on boards. On paper, I had it all figured out. But when I became a single mother, I discovered that no amount of C-suite experience prepares you for the profound reality of handling everything alone. Every decision. Every responsibility. Every sleepless night wondering how you’ll keep it all together.

During those solitary evenings, juggling finances I’d never managed before, trying to maintain my professional trajectory, and making sure my children felt secure and loved, I stumbled upon something unexpected. An AI tool. Nothing fancy—just something to help me get through my work faster. But what started as a simple efficiency tool became something much more profound: it gave me permission to dream again.

💡 Here’s what I realized: If this technology could give me back the mental space to imagine a life beyond just surviving, beyond just managing—what could it do for others facing their own overwhelming moments?

Feeling overwhelmed by it all? You’re not alone, and there is a way forward.

From Surviving to Thriving

That late-night discovery wasn’t just about getting through my task list faster. It opened a door I didn’t know existed. Suddenly, I had mental bandwidth I hadn’t felt in years. I could think beyond the next meal, the next deadline, the next challenge.

I could dream.

Today, as the founder of Chager, I’ve made it my mission to share this gift with others—especially women, working parents, and healthcare professionals who are drowning in the same overwhelm I experienced. Because here’s what I’ve learned: AI isn’t about replacing human connection or judgment. It’s about giving us back the space to be more human.

My support system during this journey? My children and my parents. That was enough. But it also meant I had to find new ways to manage everything else. And that’s exactly why I understand your challenges—because I’ve lived them.

The Journey That Brought Me Here

20+ Years Leading Healthcare Transformation
100s Vaccine Sites Managed Through the Pandemic
Lives We’re Touching Together

Two Decades of Healthcare Leadership

My professional journey has taken me from pharmacy practice to policy development, from frontline care to executive boardrooms. Along the way, I’ve:

  • Built and implemented pharmacy services that improved patient care across multiple settings
  • Shaped healthcare policy at provincial and national levels, advocating for patients and professionals alike
  • Led hundreds of teams through one of healthcare’s most challenging moments—the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Served on boards where I fought for the changes our healthcare system desperately needs
  • Learned that sustainable transformation requires supporting the humans doing the work

Then Came the Pivot

But here’s what’s funny about expertise: it doesn’t prepare you for everything. All those years of leadership experience couldn’t help me during those quiet evenings when my children were asleep and the weight of single parenthood felt overwhelming. When every decision—financial, professional, personal—rested solely on my shoulders.

That’s when I realized something important: If I was struggling with this much experience and support, how many others were quietly drowning? Healthcare workers on the edge of burnout. Working mothers juggling impossible demands. Small business owners wearing every hat. People who just needed someone to understand and offer a real way forward.

That realization led to Chager. Not from a place of having all the answers, but from a place of understanding the questions that keep you up at night.

What I Believe About AI (And What I Don’t)

Let me be honest with you: AI isn’t magic. It won’t cut your grass, take out your garbage, or show up to parent-teacher conferences. Anyone who promises it will solve everything is selling you something.

But here’s what it can do—and this is powerful:

“AI can give us back the mental bandwidth to be more present, more creative, more human. It handles the mechanical so we can focus on the meaningful.”

My philosophy centers on a simple idea: Technology should enhance what makes us human, not replace it. The goal isn’t to automate away human judgment—it’s to clear space for the connections, creativity, and care that only we can provide.

This means I believe in:

  • Understanding before using – The best way to address AI’s challenges isn’t avoiding it. It’s understanding it deeply enough to use it wisely
  • Humans at the center – Let AI handle what it does best, so we can focus on what only humans can do: connect, empathize, innovate, and care
  • Access for everyone – AI literacy should reach those who need it most, especially women, working parents, and underrepresented groups often left behind by technology
  • Ethics in everything – Proper training, data protection, and clear boundaries about when human judgment must prevail are non-negotiable
  • Technology as equalizer – These tools should level the playing field, helping everyone create their version of an extraordinary life

A Few More Things You Should Know

I want to be real with you about something: I’m not someone who has everything figured out. I’m not standing at the finish line telling you how easy the journey was. I’m right here in the middle of it with you.

My support system during the hardest time? My children, who remind me daily why this matters. My parents, who showed up when I needed them most. That was my village—and it was enough. But it also meant finding new ways to manage everything else that comes with building a business while being fully present as a mom.

I understand the exhaustion of wearing too many hats. The guilt of wondering if you’re doing enough. The courage it takes to imagine something different when you’re just trying to make it through today. Because I’ve felt all of it.

And that lived experience? It’s not just background—it’s the foundation of everything we do at Chager. When I design a program or offer guidance, it’s grounded in real life, real challenges, and real solutions that actually work when you’re juggling a million things.

Here in Toronto, I continue balancing motherhood, business leadership, and building this movement around ethical, accessible AI literacy. My children are still at the center of my world. They always will be. And my journey—from those overwhelming nights to helping others find their own way forward—proves something important:

Transformation doesn’t require having it all together. It requires taking the first step, even when you’re scared. Even when you’re tired. Even when you’re not sure how it’ll all work out.
